Ms Marvel and what it is about
Ms. Marvel will be available on Disney+ Hotstar starting June 8 and it will feature six episodes. The story revolves around a 16-year-old Pakistani American high school girl, Kamala Khan, who tries to balance her social life and the newly discovered superpowers.
Kamala is someone who doesn’t fit in at school and sometimes even at home. She is also described as a gamer and is a huge fan of Captain Marvel comic books.
Even with the new superpowers, Kamala is still skeptical about being a superhero as she is a person of colour. She said in the trailer “it’s not really a thing for a brown girl from New Jersey to save the world”. It will be interesting to see how the story unfolds from the beginning until the end.
Will the series be a hit or miss?
Marvel Studios is undeniably one of the biggest names in Hollywood. According to Harvard Business Review, Marvel Studios have grossed a sum of $17 billion from its 22 films, more than any other movie franchise in history. In addition, they average an impressive 84% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, so there’s no doubt that this tv series will meet its expectations, right?
After all, Marvel tv series such as Loki, WandaVision, and Daredevil are well received by the fans. Besides, Ms. Marvel is set to send a message about women empowerment, gender equality, and combating general stereotypes, which are always welcomed in today’s society.
